Sustainability
At Meneta, we take sustainability seriously. With our triple bottom line approach, we focus on all areas within sustainability: People, Planet, and Profit.
impactful balance
The automotive and composite materials industries have an important role to play in combating climate change. In 2020, vans and passenger cars accounted for almost one-tenth of global CO2 emissions, according to IEA. Saving natural resources and reducing carbon emissions must be a priority.
Social and economic sustainability is of equal priority to Meneta. Attracting the right workforce, maintaining our communities and having a healthy economy ensures our ability to do more good in the world in the future.

triple bottom line
our focus
At Meneta, we take a triple-bottom-line approach to sustainability. This means that we focus on three key areas: social, environmental, and economic sustainability. This approach is about balancing economic, social, and environmental priorities to create long-term value for our stakeholders. By focusing on these three areas, we believe that we can achieve sustainable growth and contribute to a better world for future generations.
At Meneta, we aim to create value across the triple bottom line. We believe that sustainability is not only a responsibility but also an opportunity to make a positive impact in the world. By measuring our sustainable initiatives through our annual carbon accounting reports, we ensure that we are on track to reach our goals.
People
social sustainability
Within social sustainability lies our responsibility for our people as an employer. We believe that creating a good, healthy, and safe work environment, with fair wages, secures greater work satisfaction and is beneficial to both the employee and the employer. Our workforce represents society and is culturally and ethnically diverse. We believe a dynamic workforce is a valuable asset that increases societal equality and growth. For that reason, we are investing in our people.
A selection of actions made:
- Thorough safety protocols are established at all our locations.
- Job satisfaction surveys are conducted frequently.
- A whistleblower scheme is available to report misconduct.
- Various sponsorships supporting children and sports activities.
giving back to society
We also prioritize the well-being of the communities in which we operate, and we work to minimize the impact of our operations on those communities. We are actively engaged in local communities across the world and the people in them. We have a long-standing tradition of supporting sports clubs, schools, runs, and welfare initiatives.
To support education, we are working together with educational institutions in Denmark, India, and France on student projects, and we attend and support sustainable and educational fairs such as Reboot by Odense Kommune, Circular Design Camp by UCL, and Internship and Project Day at SDU.
planet
We are committed to reducing our environmental impact through sustainable manufacturing practices and we are constantly seeking ways to make it even more sustainable and increase efficiency. Our focus areas are responsible material sourcing, energy consumption, and waste management.
Energy
Meneta uses renewable energy certificates to ensure 100% carbon-neutral energy consumption at all Danish plants.
waste management
At our locations, we reuse and recycle as much as possible. This includes rubber, liner, steel, and spillage oil in our productions. In our offices and cafeteria, paper, food, plastics, and electronic equipment are recycled. Through our partnership with Refurb, we ensure that our electronic waste is being disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner where they refurbish the equipment and resell it for a circular economy.
supplier strategy
With most of our emissions deriving from our raw material consumption, we are frequently touching base with our suppliers to develop more sustainable solutions.
To become a Meneta supplier in the first place, we have a sustainable purchasing strategy where suppliers must accommodate the high standards defined in our Code of Conduct and Supplier Quality Agreement.
fossil-free steel
Meneta is among the first companies in the world to enter a sustainable partnership with our steel supplier to deliver fossil-free steel for Meneta products when the material is available.
With a special production technology, the process of producing steel coils will emit water, instead of CO2e.
When fully implemented in all our productions, it will mean a drastic CO2e reduction of thousands of tonnes each year. For more information on this groundbreaking news, please read the press release here.
profit
We believe that sustainability is good for business and that business is good for sustainability.
economic sustainability
By reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and promoting sustainable practices throughout our supply chain, we are able to create more value for our customers and shareholders. We also believe that our commitment to sustainability helps to build trust and strengthen relationships with our stakeholders.
To be able to support our Planet- and People efforts in the future, we need to be a successful company that cares for our economic sustainability by working cost-effectively with purchasing, and optimizing our production continuously.
networks and partnerships
We believe that partnership is the new leadership. As such, we are actively working to gain new partners through various networks that can help us toward our net-zero vision.
To be able to keep developing and drive change, we are participating in multiple networks and partnerships. We are a part of:
Being a part of Drive+ helps us to stay up-to-date on the latest sustainability trends and best practices. We are able to gain access to valuable expertise and resources, and therefore, improve our sustainability performance. By working together with other stakeholders in the industry, we work to create a more sustainable automotive sector.
Meneta is part of the globally known UN Global Compact.
This network provides us with frameworks and guides on how to manage responsible business practices. Every year, we are obliged to publish a report stating our progress in our sustainable practices. You can access our latest report here.
Meneta has partnered up with Refurb for more environmentally friendly disposal of our electronic waste.
Refurb purchases secondhand IT equipment from businesses and organizations, refurbishes the equipment, and sells it anew. From each pickup, Meneta receives an IT Asset disposition report with the recycle percentage and CO2 savings.
